PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for FLEMINGTON are for GOOD track. Rail comes out 6m (was 3m last week and on-pace runners had a good day - however, do believe this was a tempo issue not a track bias issue).
In Sydney it's ROSEHILL again and ratings are for GOOD track. Rail comes out 3m after True position last week when all eight winners were in the first four settling.

BET OF THE DAY (Melbourne)
FLEMINGTON - Race 5 No.10 - SMOKIN' JOEY - Good return run chasing a smart youngster in Pied A Terre and they spaced 3rd. That form was franked last week. Was luckless 4th to Group class Torio's Quest 2nd-up last prep. Go well.

BET OF THE DAY (Sydney)
ROSEHILL - Race 5 No.4 - AERONAUTICAL - Resumes. Promising 3yo in a field of has been's (or never were's). Looked awesome winning back-to-back races mid-2011 then had excuses in G1 and G2 and spelled. Nice trial win leading in. The one to beat.

BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
FLEMINGTON - Race 6 No.3 - CANALI - Honest 4th in Standish at 1200m but much prefer him at 1000m. Go back two runs and he beat Standish winner Catapulted and subsequent winner General Truce. Nikolic been on once for one win. In ok weights here. Come up $7.50 in some shops... Looks overs.

BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL - Race 4 No.3 - HOLYONNY - All three runs have been very good. Returned to racing with neat win over Soledad whom he now meets 1.5kg better and looks very much on the up. Backable at $4 fixed too.

BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL - Race 8 No.2 - NAMSARAI - Resumes. Had a terrific prep his latest (didn't miss top-2 until the last of six runs) and beat Oakfield Commands in one, and meets him 3kg better. Has trialled nicely. Looks overs at $10.

LAY OF THE DAY:
Flemington - Race 3 No.3 - GOLDEN PENNY - Come up favourite at $3.80 but unproven 1400m and the city/Vic win (3rd-up last prep) turned out a modest form reference. Winnable race but layable mare here for mine.

TOP-RATED RUNNERS

FLEMINGTON

Race 1 - 2YO SWP - 1200m
1 - HENIA - Drew bad last time at Rosehill and sat back and wide before running home quite well, the quinella were Amorino and Mrs Gray who then ran well in a Magic Millions on Gold Coast last week. 1200m more suitable it seems.
6 - CHASING KISSES - Good on-pace debut (ok track was leader biased but they ran smart time and there was a good gap to 3rd) beating all-bar Flying Hostess who had placed to Alezan Thunder, that 2yo then placed in the Magic Millions last Saturday.
7 - GALVEZ - 1st-start. Half to G1-placed Huegill and by speed sire. Nolen on this. Wary!
3 - CRACOW - 1st-start. Has trialled better than ok twice in Sydney. The Patinack 2yo's seem to be going well early doors this season.
4 - REALMS - 1st-start. Trialled ok when 6th and showed ability there. Snowden/Zahra.
Race 2 - F&M 0-72 - 1600m
7 - TELLORA - Did a pretty fair Sunline impersonation at Lakeside when led clearly and kept running last time thrashing Monte Bella into 3rd, that mare then ran very well to Lonhrielle with a few key rivals here, behind them.
11 - PILBARA SAND - Went back in trip Caulfield latest and doubt it suited her, she struck trouble late too, winner was stablemate Total Attraction and this girl gets 2.5kg swing today, and has blinkers first time out to the mile.
8 - TOTAL ATTRACTION - Straight from good maiden win in fast time to 0-72 grade Saturday win is impressive, not many do it, don't see 1600m pulling her up. Go well.
10 - BOHEMIAN CIRCUS - Loved his debut then looked very good winning the maiden at Bendigo. Big strong filly looking for the mile and very much on upward spiral. Winning hope too.
5 - TERPSICHORE - Luckless from bad gate MV when finished just off Lonhrielle. Rock solid here prior but bit worried about that form to be honest and not 100% sure this girl is a strong miler yet... Still in the mix but may be unders.
Race 3 - F&M 0-82 - 1400m
10 - STARDOM - In a race of queries maybe this girl can run well at/around $6. Last run was a forget job. Wants 1400m in any case. Draws out but can possie up 3rd, 4th on my map. No moral but backable.
2 - DESATIN - Have been on her the last two, reckon she should have won W'bool and the Bocuse form is good for mares grade then didn't ping with 57kg last time. Claim is huge for her as she doesn't handle being up in the weights.
8 - LADY ROCK - Rarely wins (Dec'10 latest) but maps well here in with no weight off a sound third here. Recent 1400m form is solid. Each-way her.
7 - PROCIDA - Hit the line late here latest when just off Lady Rock and meets her 1.5kg worse but was only 2nd-up and she has won her last two 3rd-up runs by aggregate 5.6L.
1 - CHARLOTTES MINT - Beat Desatin home two-back and meets her 3.5kg worse but back to 1400m suits.
Race 4 - Hcp - 2000m
6 - HANKS - Might be ready to win again here 4th-up off a luckless 5th to key rival Royal Mail latest when 1500-to-2000m. He was only 6L off Heart Of Dreams at WFA around this stage of his last prep... Even race this.
7 - ROYAL MAIL - Bit wide and good win here latest and J.Noonan taking over is a plus if anything. Hanks only gets .5kg advantage. Building top 2000m record.
5 - ULUNDI - Good win in Lord Stks (on dry!) when 5-weeks between runs latest and the La Rocket form measured up here last week. Runs 2000m no worries (risk further) and can win.
2 - DOWN UNDER BOY - Put in a shocker in Lord Stks but good 3rd to Royal Mail latest ties in eventhough gets no weight advantage.
4 - VIKING LEGEND - Wasn't far off Ulundi in Lord Stks and was only 2nd-up..Now gets 2.5kg swing...3rd-up.. In this mix fior sure.
Race 5 - 0-89 Hcp - 1400m
10 - SMOKIN' JOEY - Good return run chasing a smart youngster in Pied A Terre and they spaced 3rd. That form was franked last week. Was luckless 4th to Group class Torio's Quest 2nd-up last prep. Go well.
4 - LETHAL ARROW - Found line nicely here fresh and he has 2nd-up form. Claim is clever here against key rivals. The danger.
7 - VOLANDO - Stablemate of Lethal Arrow and Nolen on this. meets that galloper 2.5kg worse for finishing alongside him last time when only 2nd-up. Last 3rd-up run was photo 2nd to Annlea at Caulfield. Up to this.
11 - FLYINGCONI - Is flying and stays down in weights. Jumps to 0-89 grade but still progressing. Come up very similar quote to Smokin' Joey but not sure this guy has the tools yet to test Torio's Quest as ''Joey'' did... we will soon know though...
9 - DIAMONDS AT DUSK - Racing well but losing sequence keeps stretching. Is good enough and Nick Hall on here. Blowout hope.
Race 6 - Kensington Stks - 1000m
3 - CANALI - Honest 4th in Standish at 1200m but much prefer him at 1000m. Go back two runs and he beat Standish winner Catapulted and subsequent winner General Truce. Nikolic been on once for one win. In ok weights here.
10 - STAR OF GISELLE - Promising mare who stretched out nicely fresh but just missed Ravenous Lass who then beat another promising one in Johannapine. Stays at 1000m and more depth here but can measure up.
11 - DECIRCLES - Resumes. Nicely-related youngster who has good ability. Maiden win before spell was smart beating Godspeed. Very wary.
7 - OBSIDIAN DRAGON - Big win MV with big weight when simply too fast! If all you looked at were her 1000m stats you would see 16 starts, 8 wins and 5 placings... Goes in everything.
8 - WEEKEND SPECIAL - Just missed General Truce latest and was 2nd-up so may have more room to move/improve here.
2 - FIRST COMMAND - The other obvious, especially is wider gates are pluses.
Race 7 - 0-89 - 1700m
9 - BOLTON - Trapped wide in slowly run/ on-pace race last week, he ran well. Was month between runs prior behind Platamone Castle. Wants 1700m now. Looks some overs at $8.
8 - CHASSE - Raced tight key stage and ran home hard fresh then stayed at 1400m 2nd-up and again things didn't pan out (forced wide too soon). Now to 1700m and love the Midnight Martini form on his CV for this 0-89. Can win!
12 - SEGURO - Led and brave but no match for Agrippa last time (that's the At The Heads formline) and weighted to run well here (in below limt).
5 - CONQUERING JOURNEY - Beaten fave in Agrippa race latest and cost himself any chance by pulling stupidly. Has a 1L 2nd to Module at 1800m on the CV when trapped wide so certainly good enough here... A must too.
10 - RICHOMAN - Tough, genuine on-pacer who held off a Saturday class horse Mornington latest and is in the mix here given tempo/pattern.
Race 8 - 0-78 - 1800m
6 - MESHMAKER - Won 2 of last 3 (both at 1800m - aggregate margin 7.1 lengths). Gets right run from gate 1 and progressive 3yo for Kav who can win this.
8 - INFUSE - Walked in at Ballarat and liked the space to 3rd there. Was only 1st-up at start three so how good...???
1 - MURDOCH'S JOY - Didn't have ton of luck latest behind Platamone Castle. Claim is clever here with some up and comers. Include.
2 - SIDECAR - Chased hard behind Richoman 2nd-up (how did he go in previous) off good fresh run and already proven this class.
4 - BOLD TROJAN - Might need jar out of track but os city placed on dry and Stawell win with big weight latest was tidy.

ROSEHILL

Race 1 - F&M BM85 - 1200m
6 - NEXT THE UNIVERSE - Been very good this prep without winning. Is 5th-up today, she won 5th-up last time in. Back to 1200m ok and weighted to win.
7 - HATTON GARDEN - Lightly-raced and genuine mare who made a good return at WFM. Her last 2nd-up run was a terrific win coming from the back. Unbeaten 1200m.
2 - RECORRIDO - Comes back from Listed grade to restricted race against her own sex and much better suited 1200m too. Not easy with 59kg but the fresh win here says she has come back very well (off top trial).
8 - FORWARD LOVE - Resumes. Been trialling super and won 2 of 4 when fresh, with softer run do think she would be 3 from 4 (beaten narrowly fresh last time in when winner had softer run).
1 - ROSIE'S REWARD - Creeps up to 60kg but is off back-to-back 1200m wins (one wet/ one dry). Harf to risk.
Race 2 - BM80 - 1500m
7 - THUMBTACKS - Tricky race this and this guys draws awkwardly but he ran over key rival So So Sure fresh and only meets him 1kg worse. Do think he will be a shade stronger at 1500m and can win again. Has 2nd-up form.
1 - SO SO SURE - Gave a good sight fresh when collared late by Thumbtacks and they did run useful time. This is his first try beyond 1400m but likely leader and on-pacers won all eight races here last week.
5 - MR EDISON - Bone dry-tracker it seems and has come up overs at $11. Stepped in trip (and onto bone dry) at Canterbury latest and won at nice odds.
3 - IRISH JIG - Rarely wins but racing well and the My Destiny/ Alma's Fury formlines of late do look appealing in this race of queries. Was bit wide latest. Good hope.
8 - HARDBREAK HOTEL - Sound second at WFM latest to Rolling Pin (beat home Irish Jig) and drawn for good run again. Has a case.
Race 3 - 2YO Inglis Classic - 1200m
14 - CAVALRY ROSE - 1st-start. Excellent recent trial in good time and was untouched. Gate 1. Stable have them ready.
6 - SNIPPETSBOY - 1st-start. Also trialling super and stable quinellaed the Magic Millions 2yo race last week.
8 - DIAMOND EARTH - Good speed win at WFM beating De Shamekh who won well last week. Some query out to 1200m at the skinny odds but has raceday experience over key rivals here.
7 - TAXMEIFYOUCAN - 1st-start. Backs-up from good trial Tuesday at WFM and inside gate/Bowman no knock.
9 - RiSKY BLONDE - Brave debut win then well held WFM but winner ran sharp time and looks gifted.
Race 4 - 3YO BM73 - 1350m
3 - HOLYONNY - All three runs have been very good. Returned to racing with neat win over Soledad whom he now meets 1.5kg better and looks very much on the up. Backable at $4 fixed too.
9 - ANGEL OF MERCY - Really hit the wire in Wyong MM in fast time then walked in at WFM. Draws out but seriously progressive too. A danger.
8 - WAR CHARM - Won 3 of 4 this prep and looked bit stiff in the defeat. Overcame trouble in top win latest. Can measure up!
4 - SATIRICAL BOY - Resumes. Won on debut then G3 placed before flop on heavy and sent for long spell. Been trialling nicely for the return. Stable in form.
1 - CINDAROCKINRELLA - Liked win here when used up a bit midrace but too good then shared speed and faded at 1400m latest. Claim was needed so now has 56kg Vs the boys not 59...
Race 5 - BM80 - 1100m
4 - AERONAUTICAL - Resumes. Promising 3yo in a field of has been's (or never were's). Looked awesome winning back-to-back races mid-2011 then had excuses in G1 and G2 and spelled. Nice trial win leading in. The one to beat.
7 - BIG BONANZA - Resumes. Trialled well also. Won 6 of 13 and was good early in last prep. Claim sees him in 3.5kg below the 3yo Aeronautical.
3 - MAGIC WEEKEND - Resumes. Has never won fresh but placed 4 of 6 and in one of those he was second to star Thankgodyou'rehere. Placed to Atomic Force too...
5 - PRINCESS QUALO - Close-up at Kembla fresh in busy finish. She has 2nd-up form. Blinkers back on. In the mix.
9 - VILIKAZI STREET - Good dry-tracker coming off big provincial win after missing the kick and significant rider change to G.Schofield today.
Race 6 - Hcp - 1400m
8 - CABERNET - Ran well on heavy at 1200m with break between runs then did find the line last week in on-pace race/day. Avdulla back on and gets weight relief taking on the boys.
4 - SHARP PRINCESS - Was nibbled in betting last time and a sound 4th to New Day Rising when 8-weeks between runs. Tipping fitter. The 2.5kg swing on Tromso helps. The gate ideal.
2 - PARTHIAN - Made promising one Alma's Fury work to beat him last week and drops to 55kg after claim which equals 5kg swing on Tromso. That's telling.
3 - TROMSO - Been sitting closer of late and hitting the line in key lead-up races but needs another win soon. Favourite track/trip and winnable race but still has relative weights against Vs key rivals.
11 - KEY WEST - Good ride/tactics last week and he kept running. Up to open class but gets weight relief and has claims.
Race 7 - BM85 - 1800m
11 - SINGLE - Good return win then was riskable staying at 1500m 2nd-up and was beaten at short odds by Alma's Fury (that form franked). Now gets to 1800m 3rd-up. Did win 3rd-up in first prep. Can hit back here.
14 - THE OWL - In similar boat to Single. Had the 1500m trip (and relative weights) against last week when layable at $2.50 and beaten...Now to 1800m and plummets in weight. Good hope.
10 - ROSE OF PEACE - Not dropping off yet. Has had genuine excuses the last two off a very good fresh run and in-form Robl up, out to 1800m...Has come up double-figures and for mine, is overs.
7 - TROPICANA GIRL - Recent good/dead track from is good and/or forgivable. Last two being a solid win and a touch stiff 3rd. Back to 1800m but winning hope if track ok.
2 - KING GLADIATOR - Beat Tropicana Girl then ran home well behind her latest so formlines obviously tie in and certainly going well. Another back in trip.
Race 8 - Hcp - 1300m
2 - NAMSARAI - Resumes. Had a terrific prep his latest (didn't miss top-2 until the last of six runs) and beat Oakfield Commands in one, and meets him 3kg better. Has trialled nicely. Looks overs at $10.
3 - CODIGO - Slow out and made nice ground latest. Unproven 1300m but it looks ok. Gate 1 late in the day some query and needs to jump with field but good hope.
5 - OAKFIELD COMMANDS - Stuck well off wide run latest and fancy the tempo of 1300m, rolling forward to offset gate for Cassidy, will suit. Is genuine.
16 - ZAHAR - Resumes as a gelding. Nicely related and has plenty of upside. Has been trialling nicely and only other fresh run was an ok 8th to Spurcific at Flemington on debut. Wary.
12 - THINK MINK - Neat win in good time fresh then was backed but found plenty of strife last time. Can hit back.

Good luck !
