WITH FURTHER ACTS TO BE
ANNOUNCED SOON
This amazing one night
only line-up will be taking the stage on August
29 at St Kilda’s legendary rock and roll venue, The Palace with hosts
including Jack Thompson, Billy Thorpe, Michael Chugg and Red Symons.
Why? To both
honour and support Australian guitar legend Lobby
Loyde who is in the advanced stages of cancer.
In the world of
Australian popular music, Lobby Loyde is without peer
and his dynamic style of music is revered by his legions of fans along
with those that worked with him during his many years in the industry.
To quote Billy
Thorpe,“Lobby’s primal, aggressive and energetic brand
of rock that first reached and excited Australian audiences through the
seminal blues of the Purple Hearts in the mid-60s, and later with the
Wild Cherries, The Aztecs and Coloured Balls, stylistically and
sonically paved the way for an identifiable Australian' rock style and
sound. Lobby was the “Dude”. He was the "Guitar slinger" who talked the
talk and walked the musical walk with an unabashed and natural
"attitude" and style that many a young gun attempted to emulate.
Lobby's influence is still being heard today in the sound of bands like
AC/DC and Jet and by extension Lobby Loyde will continue to influence
musicians for generations to come.”
Lobby
Loyde was one of the
first people Promoter Michael Chugg met when he moved to Melbourne from
Tasmania in the early 70’s and remembers the influence Lobby had on the
music scene then. “The magic of his many bands & all the
young ones he helped & encouraged puts Lobby in a special
part of oz music folk law & I am proud to be able to play a
small part in the upcoming gig featuring a who’s who of
Lobby’s 5 decades in the music industry, who helped make our
music great & world class.
