Gold".. the people cried as they ran
through the streets of Melbourne, when the heavens opened up, and
it was pissing down Aussie Gold Medals, on the day that
was named Golden Shower Saturday,
by me!
What a bloody bonzer ripper
of a day, take a squiz at the speed of those Aussies.. 1 Gold
Medal per hour.. that's 10 Gold medals in 10 hours.

Australian Kerryn McCann has defended her Commonwealth Gold medal crown,
winning the Women's Marathon in a time of 2:30.53. More here

Last night saw the MCG come alive with the Official
Opening of the 12 Day event . The Queen was there, the PM, David Neitz, Ron Barassi...
They even had a bloody flying tram and Delta Goodrem....Shit we know how to put on a show....

Let the Games Begin....
The 2006 Commonwealth Games begin in Melbourne today.
Looks like it's going to be a great day to show off this great city
and we wish the competitors from all 71 Nations of the Commonwealth a safe and
exciting 2 weeks of competition....good luck getting a taxi...

Ian Thorpe finally succumbed to illness
and today pulled out of the 2006 Commonwealth Games
which begin in Melbourne in just over a week.

Ian 'Thorpedo'
Thorpeis currently undergoing extensive medical testing
to find out what is laying him low. So low he can't train at any level
with just 13 days before the Games begin.
The medicos are
looking at chronic fatigue syndrome ,whooping cough, and glandular
fever as possiblities....
Even if his problem is diagnosed in time and he is allowed to take the
prescribed medcation , if needed , we at merv.com.au believe he will be so
full of tiny holes from all the needles required for the blood tests,
that he probaly wont even be able to float by then.
