The Official launch of the Sunrise Weather Winnebago*, sent excitement through the World Webcam Watching fraternity today, especially at www.WorldWebcamWatch.com ..as Monique Wright and her mobile weather crew departed on a weather chasing journey around Australia, while the World Wide Web watches live on 5 different webcams. It was a big send off from Channel 7's Sunrise Brekky Central, in the heart of Sydney at 9:00am, as Kochie, Mel and the whole Sunrise crew waved farewell.
This bold new endeavour by Sunrise is very
pioneering in Australian live mobile cam streaming, while others
in America, in their live cam streaming 18 wheeler trucks, are
still experiencing difficulties on a regular basis, broadcasting on the

But the journey for
Sunrise with the expected new technology hiccups, will be well
worth the reward, especially to be be acknowledged as
the Captain Cook of Australian live mobile cam broadcasting, prior
to the webcam phenomenon about to engulf the World in 2007,
giving TV and the likes of YouTube videos, a very big run for
their money, because everybody is starting to prefer their
entertainment in a live reality format without scripts.

The Captain of the pioneering weather cam bus is Monique Wright, a top Sydney journalist reporter, and presenter for the Seven Television Network in Australia, and has been with the Seven Network since 1996, working on major broadcast events, such as The Sydney Olympic Games, The Sydney Olympic Torch Relay, Manchester Commonwealth Games, Athens Olympic Games, Torino Winter Olympic Games, The Melbourne Cup Racing Carnival and the Rugby World Cup Final in Sydney and also reporting some of the biggest stories in Australia over the past decade, including emergencies, natural disasters, crime, politics and human interest events was one of the first reporters to bring an international audience the news of Steve Irwin's death. Monique has also interviewed Pavarotti, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon,Hugh Hefner from Playboy, gone swimming in the English Channel with Sir Richard Branson and spent several days exclusively with millionaire socialites Paris and Nikki Hilton.
So why has Monique Wright quit the so called glamorous life of a Worldwide reporter, as many imagine, to become the captain of the Monique Queen of the Weather around Australia 2007 Tour Bus, because she found she loved her ordinary everyday people interviews best, as she did in her Everyday People series. And Monique says "While nothing equals the adrenaline rush and challenge of reporting live, it's easy to find yourself embarrassed in front of thousands of viewers.. I was once hit by falling bird-poo mid-interview.. that really was a highlight of my career" she laughs.

Shannon "Boy Wonder" Carr is a night owl and hangs out with Batman Ben, but hates having to wake up before 4am every Monday to Friday to drive the Sunrise Weather Winnebago to the next shoot location, then setting everything up to do the live to air cross back to Commissioner Kochie & Mad Mel in the Brekky Central Bat Cave, then only to have to pack it all up again. But he does love driving to the next location around Australia with his new Sunrise Partridge Family.
When Shannon was young he wanted to be a policeman and fight crime like his favourite super hero Batman, and still dreams of the getting a cool Batman utility belt like Batman Ben Hogarth has, but unfortunately the closest Shannon came to his dream was now playing the part of Boy Wonder Robin for Batman Ben & Wonder Girl Monique.
Before Shannon became the Sunrise Weather Boy Wonder, he worked for an event production company in Adelaide as a tech guy, and listened to 'Evermore' and the 'Ministry of Sound' on his ipod while eating "Nem nuong" Pork balls and dreaming of travelling Australia.. then becoming rich and famous and buying a beach house.
Shannon Carr is very popular with the ladies and girls, he is the quintessential boy next door.

Ben "Batman" Hogarth is a weather super hero, he actually produces the weather on the road around Australia, and takes care of Monique’s activities throughout the week, organizing talent for Sunrise live weather segments and great stories for the viewers, all on only 4 hours sleep each night.
Ben loves travelling with the Sunrise Partridge Family Crew because it doesn't feel like work when he's doing what he loves with a group of good friends who are like family.
Before Ben started with Sunrise in 2005, he worked in the newsroom of 'The Daily Planet' and then was an archaeologist and film director for the Indiana Jones movies.. and then he woke up!.
'Batman Ben' draws his super powers and strength from classic pepperoni pizza washed down with a bottle of beer or red wine, while listening to 'Pearl Jam', 'Fugazi' and 'Tool' on the ipod.

Sensible" PAUL SLATER

Paul "Mr Sensible" Slater wakes up at 3.45am, then he has a sensible breakfast and heads out to the location at 5am which is a sensible time to allow himself enough time to set up the cables, lights and check everything, before the first of 6 weather crosses starting at 6.05am. Once they are finished Paul packs up all his gear and heads to the next location for the next day, while sometimes filming stories in the afternoon to air the following morning. Sensible Paul tries to get to bed early at a sensible time but the others don't always make it work out that way.
When Paul was young, he dreamed of being older and more sensible.
Once upon a time Paul was unsensible and said to his girlfriend.. "Sure honey, I'll let you cut my hair..."
Paul enjoys a good sensible pub counter meal while listening to good sensible music like 'Powderfinger', 'Coldplay' or 'U2'.

The crew can connect to the internet with typical download user speeds averaging 550kbps - 1.5Mbps using a Next G™ wireless router. Upgrades to the network are planned for the first half of 2007 which will increase network speeds to a peak of 14.4 Mbps. Telstra's Next G™ network is more than 100 times larger and twice as fast as the next fastest Australian 3G network making it the perfect choice for the Weather Winnebago.

The Ezitrak™ Weather Module is a unique, smart & effective, talking vehicle security system designed to be used in a variety of vehicles, motorcycles and boats including a full range of plant & equipment. It simply uses the extensive GSM cellular phone network for communication & GPS (Global Positioning System) of satellites for location, enabling it to operate effectively throughout Australia, the UK, Europe, USA and parts of Asia. The Ezitrak™ unit installed on the Sunrise Nescafe Blend 43 Weather Winnebago includes a Remote Temperature and Humidity sensing system mounted on the roof. This additional module was developed for us by Rojone in just over 1 week and fitted to the Sunrise Nescafe Blend 43 Weather Winnebago. The sensor is a Naturally Aspirated Type allowing the surrounding air to flow at low velocity over the sensor to determine both ambient Temperature and Humidity.
The Dew Point is also calculated from the Temperature and Humidity readings. The Dew Point Temperature is the temperature to which the air must be cooled to reach saturation (assuming air pressure remains the same). When the temperature cools to the dew point, fog or dew can occur, and the relative humidity becomes 100%. The Ezitrak™ unit takes samples of the following parameters every 2 minutes: Time and Date.. Position, Speed and Heading.. Ignition State.. Vehicle Battery Voltage.. Temperature.. Humidity..
